In the book of 1 Kings 19, Elijah participated in one of the greatest moves of God ever. He literally summoned God’s fire from heaven. Afterwards, he was so mentally and spiritually depleted that when Jezbel threatened to kill him, he ran for his life and ended up alone in the desert.

He was so dilliussioned that he asked God to kill him right then and there. But that is the opposite of what God did. God did not scold him or tell him to suck it up. He did not tell him to have more faith. He did not make him feel guilty for being discouraged. Instead, God told him to rest and sleep, and then He sent angels to bring him food to eat. It wasn’t until he was physically, spiritually,and mentally strengthened that God sent him back into ministry.

Every Christian needs a time of refreshing. They need to find that Secret Place in Christ where God can rejunevate and minister to them. That is the purpose of this retreat. Not MORE activity! Not MORE recreation! But a time to abide in Christ and linger in his presence. We can’t abide in God’s presence and not be changed.

The BE STILL Christian Meditation Retreat is going to teach you the life-changing practice of Christ-centered meditation, a spiritual practice that many Christians have never done before, but that is encouraged throughout the scripture.

The McCloud River Mercantile Hotel is in an historic setting surrounded by the beauty of tall pines and the grandeur of Mount Shasta. Many of the rooms include king size beds, feather down comforters, whirlpool or claw foot tubs, and exquisite historical designs. The rooms offer breathtaking views of Mt. $ 425 PP/ Triple or Quadruple Occupancy -$125 non-refundable deposit with full payment due by April 30, 2012. (Single persons or friends who want to be matched with 2-3 room mates) All rooms will accommodate 3 people and several rooms 4 people. The rooms are very large and may include king, queen, twin, or roll in bed. We will assign beds by registration dates, meaning, those who sign up early will get larger beds. These rooms will NOT be co-ed.

Transportation Options:

Retreat is 3 ½ hour drive from Sacramento and 1 ½ hour drive north of Redding.

Travel Arrangements: If you are flying in for retreat we encourage you to either fly into Sacramento or Redding and rent a car to the retreat center . I will try to organize ridesharing from Sacramento, but it is not guaranteed. For ridesharing you will be asked to pay driver $50 for roundtrip at time of departure. If riding sharing is not available, be prepared to rent a car from Sacramento or Redding. The ride is very beautiful and goes by very fast.

Rental Cars: Please check rental car options in Sacramento and Redding before booking your flight. You should be able to rent a car right at the airport for very reasonable ($13 per day at some rental locations for a small car).

Amtrak and Greyhound also provides transporation with dropouts about 15-20 minutes from retreat location. Arrangements can be made for pick up to and from the center.

Christ-centered Yoga and Meditation Class

Love yoga, love Christ? You’ll love this class. This New Christian Yoga and Relaxation class meets every Thursday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. beginning July 5th at The House Christian Church located in Downtown Sacramento (CA) at 1901 Broadway (use the 19th and X Street entrance). The first hour will be devoted to an invigorating and relaxing Christian yoga workout, followed by 15 minutes of relaxation and scripture meditation.

The Weekly Christian Yoga class on Thursday evenings is coed and will be based on Biblical scriptures and inspirational messages . Cost for the weekly class is only $2.00 and childcare will be provided at a cost of $2.00.

About Instructor: Rhonda Jones is a former PraiseMoves (The Christian Alternative to Yoga) instructor who has taught Christ-center yoga for the past 3 years. The Be Still Christian Meditation Retreat brought participants from as far away as Colorado to learn various methods of practicing Christ-centered meditation in their daily lives. The retreat was more than I could have even imagined or expected. I give God all he glory! It was fabulous.

Nineteen retreaters spent 4 days and 3 nights in the beautiful town of Mccloud, California (near Mt. Shasta) where they meditated daily, hiked to waterfalls, took a meditation walk, practiced Christian yoga, made new friends, and much more. The retreaters, many who have never meditated before, said this was a life changing experience that would bring them closer to God and a more fruitful walk with Christ.
